Application Questions for Individual and Small Group Study
1- How are prophetic prayers (or “spiritual prayers” as in Ephesians 6:18) different from simple prayers of petition? Why is it healthy for believers to practice both kinds of prayer?
2- What mindsets or attitudes might lead someone to see prayer as heavy, burdensome, or toil? What mindsets or attitudes might lead someone to see prayer as a joyful pursuit?
3- Sometimes, those with a discernment gift (or a “feeler” prophetic bearing) will sense the emotional and spiritual burdens of other people in their midst. Why is it important to teach those with this gift to bring these burdens to God and apply the power of the cross (instead of carrying these burdens themselves)?
4- How does prophetic insight work together with historical research to inform our prayers for cities, regions, and nations? Why is valuable for us to have both spiritual insight and historical knowledge?
5- Are there any cities or regions that God has placed on your heart to regularly pray for?
